Paula Gilhooley at Satara Camp in Kruger National Park

Satara Camp is situated East of Orpen Gate in an area of flat open Sqvanna which affords some of the best grazing and game spotting in Kruger National Park.  N’wanetsi River Road, s100, and Satara-N’wanetsi Road, H 6, are excellent roads for spotting lions.  Satara has the highest population on Lions of any area in the park.  In addition Sweni Hide on Trichart Road, s 37, is a fantafullsizeoutput_164fstic hide that will not fail to provide a wide variety of sightings.

Some of the rare species that can be found in the area are Sable, eland, nyala, black and white rhino a d wild dog.  There are several waterholes andfullsizeoutput_15e3 dams that attract herds of wildebeests, zebra, buffalo and elephants.  In addition there are two wilderness trails suitable for 4×4 adventures. With all of the animals in the area there are many excellent photographic opportunities including spectacular  sunsets.

Satara has a series of comfortable facilities for a rest and a nice braai in small bungalows for two people to larger  six plus people units for families and two larger guest houses.  There areas camping facilities for tents and campers plusIMG_3371 a restaurant and shop.  There is a swimming pool for people staying in the camp.
