In 2007 shortly after my arrival in South Africa at Impala Place in Marloth Park we were visited by a female Zebra and her newly born baby. Baby had a distinctive pattern on her back, a triangle with 7-8 circles and ovals. Over the years I have visited Impala Place frequently and often i have been visited by Baby and sometimes one of her folds that was months old visited with her.

This year when I arrived at Impala Place Baby arrived for a visit very pregnant. About a week later she came back to Impala Place and this time she had a newly born female fold with her. This baby also has distinctive markings including some circles on her left back and a triangle on her right side with a few circles and ovals. This will make her easy to identify if she returns to Impala Place in the future.

I sort of feel like a proud grandmother….hopefully I will see Baby and her new baby several more times before I leave in September.
